20 Photos to Inspire You to Visit The Seychelles
The Seychelles caught my attention about a year ago when browsing through Instagram. As a beach and island lover, it was at the top of my bucket list. So when a flight deal for $450 round trip with Kenya Airways came across my screen, I jumped on it immediately. As someone who’s seen countless beautiful beaches and crystal waters, I have some very high standards. This beautiful archipelago in East Africa took my breath away and I decided to combine some of my favorite photos from the experience for you to enjoy.
There are a lot of activities offered in The Seychelles. When planning your visit be prepared to do some island hopping. I visited the main island Mahe, Praslin, La Digue and Curieuse Island. If you plan to visit the Seychelles be prepared to spend some coins because the islands are not affordable in my opinion. Taxi’s, ferries and tour boats are high so please plan accordingly.
Currency: The main currency is the Seychelles Rupee (1 Seychelles Rupee is about .73USD) but in most establishments, euros are widely accepted.
Getting Around: If you want to island hop you can go to the beach and find a tour guide selling different trips. Be prepared to use your negotiation skills. When you’re on different islands the best way to get around is taxi or hiring a driver. I found mine on the beach at my hotel.
La Digue: One of the most popular islands in the Seychelles. You can get here by boat or ferry (please check ferry times) and once on the island the best way to get around is by bicycle. You can rent them at one of the bike centers or through your boat driver. I paid 30 euros round trip from Praslin to La Digue. When visiting La Digue be sure to do the crystal water kayaks. I did not have the time to do so, but I recommend spending at least one night in La Digue as opposed to a day trip like I did.
Curieuse: This island is only if you’re interested in seeing the giant tortoises. There are no other activities on this island but I enjoyed seeing the tortoises roam freely. There is a tourist tax of 8 euros that must be paid.
Praslin: From the main island of Mahe I boarded a sea plane to Praslin and I fell in love with it’s beaches. This was the island I stayed on and did day trips to the other islands booked through one of the many tour guides on the beach. There are many hotels in Praslin at different price points. I stayed at Berjaya Praslin Resort. It wasn’t the most luxurious but it was clean and the food was good.
