Hotel Experiences: The Cellars Hohenhort Cape Town, South Africa
Nestled in the Constantia area of Cape Town known for it’s wineries lies a five star luxury hotel in a category of its own. Mixing vintage, with modern and contemporary styles and an amazing lush scenery all around, my experience at The Cellars Hohenhort was one to remember. I arrived in Cape Town on a rainy afternoon and easily hopped in an Uber and enjoyed a scenic ride to this gorgeous location separated from every thing else.
The Room: I stayed in one of the premier suites and was completely blown away by the size. It had a full kitchen, a large living room with a television, a backyard with patio furniture and a huge master bedroom with an en suite bathroom. Aside from the size of the suite itself, there was something about it that gave it a very homely feeling. I was able to enjoy breakfast and dinner in the comfort of my own suite without feeling like I was in a hotel.
The Grounds: Exploring the grounds of the Cellars Hohenhort felt like having the best of nature in my own backyard. I loved how there were walking trails to take in the scenery and how you can just sit on the grass and enjoy the peace that nature can bring. It’s surrounded by lots of greenery and because it’s so large, at some points you feel like you have the place to yourself. Also when the weather permits, the hotel has two large swimming pools for guests to enjoy.
The Food: The Cellars Hohenhort happens to have one of the best restaurants in Cape Town. The Conservatory was an amazing experience of luxury dining. Each course I had was amazing and even if you don’t stay at the hotel, I highly recommend coming here for dinner but be sure to make your reservation in advance. Just before dinner each night I stoped at the Martini lounge for a drink and to sit by the fireplace. The lounge has an upscale but homely ambiance that was a great way to wind down at the end of the day. Most of the restaurant is surrounded by glass so it was great to enjoy my meal while taking in the beautiful sunsets in Cape Town. Aside from dinner, I enjoyed my breakfast every morning with lush views which was a great way to start each day before exploring all that Cape Town had to offer.
The Spa: A ‘must have’ for me when I am staying at any hotel is a spa. I loved how the spa was nestled away from the rest of the grounds just a short walk from the main lobby. I treated myself to a deep tissue massage that was very much needed after carrying luggage through airports. My massage was 90 minutes and it was exactly what I needed to recharge. The masseuse was very attentive to my needs and gave me tips to avoid typical back pain in the future.
All in all, I was very happy I chose to stay at the Cellars Hohenhort. It felt like a home away from home with great food and service.
I was welcomed as a guest of The Cellars Hohenhort and was sponsored for a portion of my stay.
